How can I know if ASX LED bulbs are compatible with my vehicle?
All ASX LED bulbs come with certified electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), which ensures they do not interfere with the vehicle’s electronic systems and are technically suitable for installation in 100% of the cars on the market.
However, optical compatibility—meaning the proper projection of the light beam in a headlight originally designed for halogen bulbs—can only be determined through a light beam test carried out in a workshop using a beam setter. This test verifies that the beam cut-off is sharp, correctly aligned, and does not produce dark spots that could compromise visibility or dazzle other drivers.
Although this test is not legally required, it is highly recommended for safety and responsibility purposes, both to ensure proper lighting and to comply with the requirements of the vehicle’s technical inspection (MOT).
As a general guideline, if your vehicle is from the year 2000 or newer and is equipped with projector, lens, or reflector-type headlights, there is a greater than 90% chance that the optics are compatible with an LED bulb.
Which LED lights are certified?
Approved LED bulbs are those that comply with current European regulations, mainly with the ECE R110 and R48 regulations. It is important to ensure that the LED lights purchased have the corresponding certification, which is usually marked on the product as “E-mark”. These certifications ensure that the lights meet the quality and safety requirements for use on roads.
How do I know if my lights are certified?
To ensure your vehicle has certified LED lights , check that they bear the European approval seal, which is usually a mark that includes the letter "E" followed by a number (indicating the country in which it was manufactured). This seal should be visible on the bulb body or its packaging. You can also request the corresponding certificates from the manufacturer or distributor.
Which cars can use LEDs?
Any car can be equipped with LED lights as long as they are properly installed and the bulbs are compatible and certified. However, it's essential to check the car manufacturer's recommendations and ensure that the changes won't affect the vehicle's warranty.
